History Of DCOMpetitions

Season 1 - DCOM1Derful

Winners = Juggsville Wanderers
Manager = Paul "Juggs" Scott

Details are sketchy about this first season. As memory serves the first season of the DCOM consisted of just 4 players with 3 teams each. 2 teams belonging to each manager played in the top division and 1 each in the lower league. A 2 league system was in play with Kevin Broderick's Rathanny Rovers winning the lower league.
This league system was decided to be scrapped and allegations of non payment to eventual winner Paul J Scott were reported.

Players:
Kevin Broderick
Ian McCarthy
Phil o' Driscoll
Paul Scott

SEASON 2 - DCOM2Riffic

Winners = Juggsville Wanderers
Manager = Paul "Juggs" Scott

A more stable season was organised and another victory for Juggsville Wanderers. The league consisted of 10 teams with a new manager added but this time only 1 division. A bog standard season which had little to report except Juggsville's dominance of the league in its first two seasons winning back 2 back titles. Sponsorship and gate receipts began to drop and the organizers had to decide on a way to drastically improve the league.

Players:
Kevin Broderick
Ian McCarthy
Phil o' Driscoll
Paul Scott
Eoin Fogarthy

SEASON 3 - DCOM3Mendous

Winners = FC Anglers
Manager = Kevin Broderick

An expansion of the league by another new manager saw 12 teams entered and an improvement financially for the league. Crowds began to return also as the run in to the final day became the most exciting yet. With 5 weeks to go it appeared that Kevin Broderick had the league wrapped but a late charge by Juggville Wanderers (who were going for 3 in a row) saw the final days gap cut to just 20 points. A shrewed transfer by Kevin Broderick on the final week (bringing in Henry from Arsenal, who went on to score a hat-trick) eventually won the league for FC Anglers.

Players:
Kevin Broderick
Ian McCarthy
Phil o' Driscoll
Eoin Fogarthy
Willie Power
Paul Scott

SEASON 4 - DCOM4Midable

Winners = Zihuathanau
Manager = Phil o'Driscoll

Another league expansion saw 2 new managers with fierce pedigrees enter the league. Another exciting league campaigne began with 16 teams now battling for the title. A new rule which stated that any team in the bottom 3 had to relinquish their team name for at least a season began. The eventual league winners were Zihuathanau managed by Phil o'Driscoll, but it wasn't all plain sailing. Toms o'Callaghan had been running away with the league but buckled under the severe pressure which went with performing in the best league in the CIT campus. A late charge from the league holders FC Anglers and ever present Juggville Wanderers saw at least 4 or 5 teams with an outside chance of taking the title. It wasn't to be however as Phils nerve held and Zihuathanau picked up their first title.

Players:
Kevin Broderick
Ian McCarthy
Tom o'Callaghan
Alan "Bundy" o'Flynn
Phil o' Driscoll
Eoin Fogarthy
Willie Power
Paul Scott

SEASON 5 - DCOMendable

Winners = Callas Cougars
Manager = Tom o'Callaghan

Season 5 saw another member join the league bringing the teams up to 18. An FA cup system was brought into play but didnt take off and was scrapped mid way through the season. Tom o'Callaghan had learnt from previous mistakes and dominated the league from start to finish. A late run by Zihuathanau made little difference and he picked up the title easily enough.

Players:
Kevin Broderick
Eoghan "Webz" Kennedy
Ian McCarthy
Tom o'Callaghan
Alan "Bundy" o'Flynn
Phil o' Driscoll
Eoin Fogarthy
Willie Power
Paul Scott
